What is Aquatherapy?

Navthera's aquatherapy facility provides rehabilitation in a temperature-controlled therapeutic pool designed for safe, comfortable movement. Water reduces body weight and joint pressure, allowing patients to move more freely with far less pain. Our programs span mobility, strength, balance, walking rehabilitation, post-surgery recovery, neurological rehab, and weight management — each session supervised and personalised by trained therapists to your condition and goals.

Water creates a healing environment that cannot be replicated on land. Buoyancy allows earlier movement after injury or surgery; warm water relaxes muscles, improves circulation, and reduces pain; and natural resistance strengthens muscles without overloading joints. The result: patients recover faster, regain mobility and balance sooner, and return to daily life ahead of what conventional therapy alone would allow.

At Navthera, our aquatherapy pool represents a significant investment in bringing world-class water-based rehabilitation to Rajasthan — so patients in Jaipur and surrounding regions no longer need to travel to metro cities for this level of care.

How Water Heals

Buoyancy

Water supports body weight, reducing joint load by up to 90%. Patients can move freely with significantly less pain and stress on healing tissues.

Hydrostatic Pressure

Water pressure uniformly compresses the body, reducing swelling, improving circulation, and providing proprioceptive feedback for balance recovery.

Viscosity

Water's natural resistance provides gentle, graded strengthening. Movement speed determines effort — patients control their own intensity naturally.

Thermal Effects

The pool is heated to a specific therapeutic temperature. This dilates blood vessels, increases tissue oxygenation, relaxes muscles, reduces pain, and improves range of motion — making every exercise more effective.

What this means for your recovery

Rehabilitate without pain

Buoyancy unloads joints by up to 90%, allowing active, meaningful therapy even when bearing weight on land is impossible.

Significantly faster recovery

Beginning active rehabilitation weeks earlier than land allows — which is consistently shown to compress total recovery timelines.

More from every session

Water's multidirectional resistance recruits more muscle groups per movement, delivering stronger functional gains in fewer sessions.

Swelling resolves sooner

Hydrostatic pressure provides constant, even compression across the body — actively reducing oedema and accelerating tissue repair throughout every session.

Movement restored

Neurological re-education, post-surgical gait and neuromuscular re-training — water enables the movements that gravity simply will not allow on land.

Conditions Treated with Aquatherapy

Orthopaedic Conditions

Water reduces body weight and joint stress, enabling pain-free movement and earlier rehabilitation for musculoskeletal conditions.

  • Slip disc / Herniated disc
  • Sciatica
  • Chronic back and neck pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Ankylosing spondylitis
  • Avascular necrosis (AVN)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Joint stiffness and mobility loss
  • Post-fracture stiffness
  • Post joint-replacement rehabilitation

Neurological Conditions

Water buoyancy allows neurological patients to attempt movements that are impossible on land, accelerating neuroplastic recovery.

  • Stroke and hemiparesis
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Guillain-Barré syndrome (recovery phase)
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Gait ataxia and walking disorders
  • Balance disorders

Sports & Injury Rehabilitation

Athletes use aquatic rehabilitation for early-stage recovery and return-to-sport conditioning with reduced reinjury risk.

  • ACL rehabilitation
  • Knee ligament injuries
  • Ankle instability
  • Muscle injuries
  • Stress injuries
  • Post-surgical sports recovery

Geriatric & Mobility Issues

The supportive aquatic environment reduces fall risk, making it ideal for elderly patients to exercise with confidence.

  • Age-related weakness
  • Joint pain in elderly
  • Difficulty walking
  • Fear of falling
  • Balance problems

Weight Loss & Fitness

Water provides resistance and buoyancy for highly effective exercise — enabling full rehabilitation for patients who cannot train on land.

  • Obesity-related joint pain
  • Weight loss programs
  • Fitness for individuals unable to exercise on land

Paediatric Conditions

The pool environment makes therapy engaging and manageable for children — reducing resistance to movement, building confidence, and enabling progress that is often difficult to achieve on land.

  • Cerebral palsy
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • ADHD

Pool Features & Specifications

Temperature Controlled

We heat the pool above ambient room temperature to a precise therapeutic temperature — specifically chosen to relax muscles, reduce pain, and improve blood circulation during therapy.

Underwater Treadmill & Bike

Built-in aquatic treadmill and underwater exercise bike for buoyancy-assisted gait training, cycling rehab, and cardiovascular conditioning — without the joint load of land-based exercise.

Resistance Jets

Directional water jets provide adjustable resistance for strengthening exercises and functional movement training.

Patient Lift

A dedicated patient lift enables safe, comfortable pool entry and exit for patients with mobility limitations — no ramp or physical transfer needed.

Hygiene & Filtration

Our pool uses UV filtration alongside a particle filtration system that captures matter down to 5 microns — together maintaining clinical-grade water purity. pH is continuously monitored and balanced for patient safety.

Aquatic Exercise Equipment

A full range of in-pool equipment — including aquatic dumbbells, resistance bands, flotation belts, and kickboards — enables targeted strengthening and rehabilitation for every patient and condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, swimming ability is not required at all. Aquatherapy takes place in a controlled, shallow pool with a therapist present at all times. Most exercises are performed standing, with support bars and flotation aids available as needed.

Absolutely. We have a dedicated patient lift that lowers you safely into the pool and brings you back out with complete ease. All you need to do is be seated comfortably on the lift's chair — our therapists take care of the rest. This facility is available to every patient at Navthera, so mobility limitations are no barrier to beginning aquatherapy.

We heat the pool above ambient room temperature to a precise therapeutic temperature. This level of warmth is specifically chosen to relax muscles, reduce pain, and improve blood circulation during therapy — making each session as effective and comfortable as possible.

Every patient presents differently, which is why our expert physiotherapists conduct a thorough individual assessment before crafting a personalised treatment plan. Your plan is designed specifically for your condition, your goals, and your pace of progress.

Yes, aquatherapy is often recommended after surgery, typically once wounds have healed sufficiently (usually 2–4 weeks post-surgery). Our therapists coordinate with your surgeon to determine the optimal timing for beginning aquatic rehabilitation.

Please wear jersey-material or pool-appropriate clothing — cotton clothing is strictly not permitted in the pool. Do bring a towel and a change of clothes. If you happen to forget any of these, they are available to purchase at the centre.
